Museum Planning LLC was engaged by the City of McDonough, Georgia to develop a comprehensive master plan for a new African American museum and cultural center. The project centered on understanding the community's needs, honoring local history, and creating a sustainable institutional model for the city.
A thorough community assessment was conducted to understand the audience, gather stakeholder input, and establish the programmatic foundation for the museum. Community members, civic leaders, and cultural organizations were engaged throughout the planning process.
The master plan established the museum's mission, vision, and values alongside a detailed building program, visitor experience framework, and phased implementation strategy. The plan provided the city with a clear roadmap from planning through capital campaign and opening day.
A multi-year strategic plan was developed to guide the institution's organizational development, programming strategy, audience development, and financial sustainability — ensuring the museum could operate effectively from day one.
